Life skills are as important as learning academic skills. A lot  of life skills can be spontaneously integrated into children’s play. At SIS Kelapa Gading, life skills are always fused in the different learning centre activities  inside the classroom.  In the drama centre, children are given home simulation activities like table setting, clothes sorting, folding and hanging. Some pre-language and pre-maths activities also promote life skills such as pouring liquid and small solids and sorting using tongs and chopsticks. You may also find empty shampoo bottles and food jars to practice opening and closing of lids.  Children are just glad to try these activities and we encourage them to practice at home.  Life skills should be  an integral  part of early childhood education if we truly aspire to make our children independent and responsible adults in the future.
